Rhyme Time in Ruma Hihi

In Ruma Hihi we have been having fun learning about rhyming words. Our poem last week was called 'Silly Rhymes' and on Thursday we had fun making up some of our own! Here are Gemma and Fan Fan's rhymes:

The cake is next to the snake.Oh look at the funny bunny, it is funny. The rat is on the cat. By Gemma

The frog is on the dog, it is on the log. By Fan Fan

Here is a silly song to help you learn about rhyming words too!

Whoop! Whoop! by Ruma Korimako

I was on Matific and then the fire alarm went on and I heard a voice say "Evacuate the building by the nearest exit!" and the class lined up. Our class went to the netball court. I thought it was a  real one. I was excited but it was fake. We went back to class. Charlie

"The fire alarm!", I screamed and I didn't even cry a little bit. And it went Whoop! Whoop! by Riley

I was on Matific learning but sudden;y me and my class heard Whoop! Whoop! "Evacuate the building by the nearest exit!" boomed a loud voice. I was very excited by the Whoop! Whoop! sound. I was playing Matific chocolate and it was very fun! But now I know it's just a practise and it will be all right. Xiangyi

Suddenly the alarm went Whoop! Whoop! and I wasin the middle of my maths. I was really scared because it was so loud. That's how I felt. Sophie

I was very scared. I told Reuben that the builders made it happen. Bella was crying so she held onto Caroline's hand. We went out of our classroom. I did not know that the alarm could talk. We thought that there was a real fire. We went out of the nearest exit. We felt sad and cold. Caroline grabbed her red folder and handbag. The fire alarm went when I was doing a maths sheet. Then we ate food. Nelle

Suddenly the fire alarm went Whoop! Whoop! and the man said "Evacuate the building by the nearest exit!", I was excited. Then we went to the basketball court behind Room 11. Caroline said the roll. Then we went to morning tea. Cameron

The fire alarm is quite scary because it can scare people. The fire alarm goes Whoop! Whoop!. We sat on the netball court that was next to the field. I was a little bit scared but i was excited too. Caroline did the roll to see if we were here. And that's what happened. By Gray

"Is it real?", I thought to myself. My class left our classroom cold and quiet at 10:15.  The whole school lined up. We went to one of the nearest exits. I was scared. It all happened because of the Whoop! Whoop! sound. Rosie

First we were doing maths and suddenly I heard Whoop!! Whoop!! and Bella started to cry. I held Bella's hand and took her to Caroline and we went to the netball court and Caroline did the red folder and we left just in time. Stella

Fire Alarm
I was scared because the fire alarm went off. This is what the man said, "Evacuate the building by the nearest exit" so we did. Caroline held my hand and Caroline is the best teacher. Bella

Reuben's Ambulance By Reuben

On Friday I won a Spring Gala prize because my poster got chosen. We hosted the assembly. It was a $20 voucher and I spent it on a Siku ambulance. I like it so much.

#3 What If? By Ruma Korimako

What If...
We have tails on our heads
Imagine if a squirrel does breakdancing
Babies go hunting
Babies drive motorbikes
Dolphins had a dummy
Ducks go weddings
Your arms were your legs
Pens could play video games
Sloths were fast
A cow could do boxing
Imagine if a cow can go skateboarding
A buzzy bee stung itself
Snakes eat gummy bears
Imagine if the King couldn't walk
What if we were invisible Charlie

What If...
Bees could drive (oh yeah!)
The books could fly
The grass was chocolate with vanilla cream on top
The sea was the colour of red, orange, yellow, green , blue, purple. Mackenzie

What If...
The school was alive
A bee ate a T Rex
A mouse ate a rhino
A dog ate tigers
A baby could drive a car
A duck could dab
Sully ate apples and the stuffed toys and they came out his mouth Carter

What If...
People could break and get together
A duck could dab
Minis were invisible
Wishes could come true
There were google minis at the Warehouse
People had hooves
Cats stood on two legs
Cats had hooves
Cats could balance on their tails
A bee could drive
A car could fly
People were invisible
Every name was the same name
Minis were free
3 was a cow's body
A hippo could dance
A monster could eat rubbers
Chocolate could be ice
A cow could climb a tree
A duck could be blue
A cat could fly
A train could meow
A cheetah could dive
A swimming pool could fly
A rocket could swim
A monster could go through your bed
You could read eggs

books could drive
The grass was made out of candy floss
The world was made out of candy floss
The ducks were blue
You could get up close to rainbows and they were a group of stars
The Earth was a dancing studio
The moon was made out of cheese
A glass of water kept refilling itself
An ambulance could dive into the water
The clouds were made out of candy
Animals could talk to you
Shoes were made out of clouds
Zebra stripes were pink and purple
A cow could fly
A duck could fly
Carnavalito was a video game
We had tails on our heads
The sea was the colour gold
Grass was made out of marshmallows
The school was alive
A mouse ate a T Rex
A mouse ate a rhino
A house was made out of candy floss
A pen could fly
There was broccoli in our ice creams
Caterpillars could fly Leo

#2 What If? By Ruma Korimako

What if...
The sea was the colour gold
Grass was made out of chocolate and marshmallows on the top.
What if a cloud could dab.
The clouds were made out of candy floss
A glue stick could fly to you when you need it
A glass of water kept re-filling
All the animals in the world could talk and you know what they are saying. Rosie

What If...
People could fly with sparkly wings
The world was made out of candy Bella

What If...
A duck could live on the moon
A snail could ride a scooter
A slug could sing

Clouds were made out of candy floss
A chair was a gigantic gummy bear

Ruma Hihi Finds Out More!

Ruby's mum reminded us it was Cook Islands Language Week this week. Ruby's 'Mama' is from The Cook Islands, Mrs Pupuke thought this was super special as her husband and her son are part Cook Islander too! Ruby taught us how to say 'Kia Orana' (hello) and 'Meitaki' (thank you). The other Ruma Hihi students were interested in finding out more about the Cook Islands so Ruby and Mrs Pupuke talked about what it is like there and we watched some videos too. We especially liked the video showing Cook Island dancing! Gemma shared that her whanau is from South Africa and asked if we could find South Africa on a map, we then watched a video about South Africa and talked about some things that are the same, and some things that are different in New Zealand. We really enjoyed finding out more about each other and hope to do some more of this soon!
